Staying At The Newly-Opened Club Med Michés Resort

Staying at the Newly-Opened Club Med Michés resort

I’m a huge fan of Club Med after experiencing Club Med Kani and Finolhu in the Maldives and Club Med Tomamu in Japan. I was invited to experience the newly-opened Club Med Michés resort in the Dominican Republic for 4 days, and there was no way I was going to miss out…

“Discover Michès, the new hidden gem of the Dominican Republic made unique by its untouched beauty. A star of our Exclusive Collection, this eco-chic and environmentally friendly all-inclusive resort, the first of its kind, is designed with four distinct boutique-villages providing for a one-of-a-kind getaway with exclusive services. Enjoy the exhilarating activities on offer in this pristine natural setting, where long immaculate beaches are dotted with luxurious palm groves. Local excursions, such as a whale watching tour in Samaná Bay, are perfect for the entire family. Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda, your gateway to paradise…”

What makes Miches Playa Esmeralda an eco-friendly resort?

“Well, our sustainably built resort and durable operations have earned us the Green Globe certification. Among other actions, we have installed solar panels throughout the resort to generate renewable energy, we say NO to single-use plastics and our employees uniforms are made from recycled plastic bottles. And that’s not all! We are also sponsoring a local farming development project to help boost the local economy.”

Club Med Michés at Playa Esmeralda is an eco-chic resort part of Club Med’s exclusive collection. Approximately 75 minutes from Punta Cana Airport, it is located on miles and miles of unspoiled palmtree-lined beaches, making for the ultimate adventure playground.

The accommodations of the resort are split into four boutique villages, all with a different style theme.  I stayed at the lush Emerald Jungle, conveniently located next to the yoga chalet, spa, and the Zen Oasis “Adults-Only” pool with a swim-up bar. The “Emerald Jungle” theme is evident with every detail in the village. All types of flora foliage has been planted to line the paths so they’re still quite small, but you can tell that when they get bigger, it’ll really make quite a “jungle” effect. The rooms also integrate the theme with its color-coordinated emerald towels, the tiles in the bathroom, jungle print couch pillows, and graphic palm wallpaper.

Michael and I spent a LOT of time at the Zen Oasis pool, especially around noon when the sun was at its peak. The bar menu is extensive (and all you can drink), and my go-to was the “Mint to Me” mocktail primarily made from passionfruit juice, mojito mix, and fresh mint leaves… so refreshing on a warm afternoon.

CINQ MONDES Spa

No vacation isn’t complete without a trip to the spa. Club Med treated me to an hour-long massage so I could experience the facilities. Upon checking in at the front desk, I was given a eucalyptus-infused towel to freshen up while filling out a form detailing my massage and music preferences. After that, I was escorted to the women’s locker room where I was given a robe, slippers, and my own locker. As a spa guest, you also have access to the spa’s hydrotherapy pools , showers, steam room, and refreshment station consisting of dried fruits and nuts, fresh fruits, and a variety of refreshing juices, tea, and infused water. Needless to say, this whole experience was pure bliss.

Restaurants & Dining

There are four main restaurants at Club Med Miches, and they’re all open throughout the day so you can always get a bite to eat and something to drink. Did I already mention it’s all-inclusive?? During my stay, I ate at Coco Plum Beach Lounge (specializing in seafood), Cayuco (main buffet restaurant), and Coal & Copper steakhouse. There’s also the main bar that’s always open for a drink any time of day, and the coffee lounge if you want to get some frozen yogurt, a latté, or a pastry.

Activities

There are SO many activities to do while staying at any Club Med location around the world. At this particular location, they offered flying trapeze school, tennis, basketball, archery, a gym, yoga and fitness classes, water aerobics, stand up paddle boarding, kitesurfing, horseback riding, water-skiing, sailing excursions, a visit to Montana de Ora, and dance lessons. There is something happening during every moment of the day, so downloading the Club Med app to schedule all the activities you wanted to do throughout the day is a must if you really want to take advantage of all that is offered.

Horseback Riding

What better way to enjoy the miles of unspoiled beaches than on horseback as the sun sets into the Atlantic?

Water Skiing

Have YOU ever heard of water skiing?? Because I definitely didn’t before I tried it for the first time at Club Med Michés. It’s the first resort in the world to offer it as an activity, so I’m pretty stoked I got to try it out. I loved it so much that I considered purchasing a keyboard unit for myself to play with at home, until I learned that it’s priced at around $10,000. Since it’s a brand new invention, it’s understandable. So I guess I’ll wait for a bit until it becomes more economical.

Montaña Redonda Express

A fun and easy excursion is riding in a safari truck up to the “swing at the top of the world” at Montaña Redonda”. The view is absolutely breathtaking from the mountain-top swing!

Miles of pristine beaches mean lots of romantic walks on the beach and evening swims…
