Coachella 2017
The Road to Coachella: Weekend One
This year, I took my boyfriend Michael with me as my plus 1 to Coachella, Weekend one. We left his house in Huntington Beach, rocking out to the “Coachella 2017” Playlist on Spotify; the best way to get into the festival spirit. It took about two hours to get to Palm Springs, our first stop.
We stopped by the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs to attend the Spiritual Gangster Gifting Suite. We drank a few coconut cocktails, got our auras read, and I got some pampering done at the hair and nail booth. We both enjoyed a gift bag of free goodies as well.
Arriving at Base Camp
It was another 40 minutes to get to Base Camp from Palm Springs. We arrived around 2pm, where we are greeted by Clif Bar and settled in to our tent. We had a whole section of the campground called “Clif Community”; our home for the weekend.
My boyfriend and I were welcomed with our own personalized gift box… boxes of Cliff and Luna bars, Reef sandals, a customized sweater, cosmetics, and tons of other festival essentials.
Base Camp was a fun place to hang out. There were pop-up shops and a swimming pool to cool off in in the desert heat. I even got to ride a hot air balloon for the first time. Even though we were tethered to the ground, I got an amazing view of the camp and the palm tree forrest next-door.
That evening, we had a communal farm-to-table style dinner under the stars. Everything was organic and healthy… dishes like quinoa, salmon, and buckwheat crepes.
At the Festival
This year was way bigger than last year in every way. I heard that the festival grounds had been extended, and I could tell with the amount of walking that we did. However, I enjoyed walking around on the grass and seeing all the art structures and sampling food at the various booths. My favorite performances during the weekend were Little Dragon, Illenium, Two Door Cinema Club, RadioHead, DJ Snake, and Lady Gaga.
